Lead Modeler

工作概要:

The Lead Modeller is responsible for creating high quality models, providing creative solutions that fulfills the artistic and technical brief of the asset, while providing guidance to others on the model team.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work independently and with the production team (VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, Model Supervisor) and other departments at an advanced level to execute the desired look of complicated CG assets, including complex creatures and/or hard surface models and environments.  

• Sets up and suggests asset workflows per asset needs. 

• In absence of Model Supervisor, assumes leadership role over Model team and liaise with production team on schedules and bids. 

• Participates as a team member in determining various design solutions; provides feedback to other members of the team by attending dailies on a regular basis.

• Mentors artists of all levels within department through a series of training modules set by Model Leadership

• Maintains or exceeds consistent level of productivity and produces high quality work in a timely manner.

Required Skills / Technical Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of industry standard software including Zbrush, Maya, and facial development experience, 

•  5+ years proven experience creating digital creatures or characters in a feature film or production environment

• Understanding of LINUX is a necessity as to navigate through ILM’s production pipeline

• Experience working from 3D scans and/or 2D artwork

Preferred Skills / Competencies:

• Portfolio demonstrating traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities a plus

• Knowledge of face shapes, flex shapes and correctives advantageous 

• An understanding of the human form/anatomy and structure/silhouette in respect of modeling

• Experience in modeling within Houdini is a plus

Education / Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or equivalent with a strong traditional art foundations: including but not limited to figure drawing, concept art and illustration.

• 5 - 8 years relevant experience (2-3 years prior experience as Model Lead)
